Google Apps For Business Fail

By novo

googleapps Google Apps hype? We’re not buyin’ it.
…And we’d certainly never pay for it!

In wake of a new ad campaign against Microsoft, we thought we’d give our thoughts on the war between the two office suites.

There’s been so much drama lately over Google Apps and how it’s going to destroy Microsoft Office. Countless analysts predicting businesses will switch over to it in droves.

Sorry toots.. it just ain’t gonna happen. People don’t like change. Period. This accounts for the fact that Windows XP remains the dominant operating system in today’s business world.

You see, Google Apps isn’t as free as they say it is. In fact, it’s 50 dollars a year, which becomes more expensive than just purchasing a physical copy of Microsoft Office.

Meanwhile, people aren’t going to switch to a web-based word processor when they need to process words offline. Sure there’s Google Gears, but you can’t actually do anything until you connect online again. Who wants to pay 50 dollars a year for a service that requires an internet connection? Not we! Furthermore, why would a business want to continually pay for software each year when they can physically own it from Microsoft? That’s just silly!

On top of it all, Google Apps doesn’t include hundreds of features you would receive from Microsoft Office. Not to mention all the other software products Google doesn’t even offer in its app collection.

Adding insult to injury, Microsoft recently announced its plan to deploy a free version of Office. This will pretty much render Google Docs useless in our opinion. The only reason to you would choose it over Microsoft Office would be out of spite at this point.

Botom.Paratus: We’re no fans of Microsoft, but unless you enjoy the lack of features, continual payment to Google, and frustration of a required internet connection, you and your company are better off sticking with the big M.
