A router made straight from HELL

By novo

linksysrouter We’ve experienced a plethora of networking headaches in our day, but nothing prepared us for this. Somewhere in the fires of Hell, the Linksys WRT110 RangePlus Wireless N Router was crafted to make normal tech-savvy humans go completely insane. In fact, you may need to be medicated after experiencing this awfulness.

To be thorough, we gave it a heavy duty inspection in the novo-lab. Immediately upon installation, we wanted to throw it against the wall. Setup was incredibly frustrating as it limits your configuration options. Once we finally got it installed, we ran into more issues. It was impossible to connect more than one device at the same time. As soon as a second device attempted to link to the router, the connection was lost for ALL devices. We thought it might be a configuration error so we checked and re-checked the settings but noooo, they were set perfectly. Apparently this little guy is only into monogamous relationships.

This turned out to be just the beginning of the horrors. We figured out the range was not much more than 15 feet. Talk about lame. The frequency also had great difficultly traveling through more than one wall, so good luck trying to use it in a decent sized house.

Furthermore, the speed tested out to be similar to dial-up. Nothing makes you want to puke more than the thought of 1990’s dial-up. We had to keep a bucket nearby, just in case.

After all was said and done, we can’t think of any other way it could have gone worse. It successfully failed in every aspect. It has to be one of the worst wireless routers ever made.

Bottom.Paratus: It’s probably a sin to purchase this router. We had to cleanse ourselves with holy water just to get the stench out.
