Is it possible to live without Email??

By novo

killingemail Apparently, this guy believes he can.

Leo Babauta from zenhabits.com explains how he’s going to ditch his inbox and declare his independence from email.

Let’s get serious. Is this even possible? We’re a little skeptical since the entire world revolves around email. However, it looks like he’s got a detailed plan that could actually work for him:

1. I’ve set up an autoresponder
2. Twitter will be my main form of communication
3. For longer conversations, there’s IM or Skype chats
4. For collaboration, I’ll use Google Docs and/or wikis
5. Friends and family can call me
6. A few types of emails will get through for now

This plan might get a little tricky. Instead of having one unified form of communication, his new separated forms may become an organizational nightmare. Most people like to have all of their communicative content in one place, whether it be Outlook or Google Apps. It makes life so much easier to have everything in one place.

After a few months of using this new plan, one would imagine he’s going to HAVE to go back and check his email sooner or later.
…It’s inevitable Mr. Anderson.

Though, if it’s at all possible, Leo Babauta will find a way.

Bottom.Paratus: We don’t believe email can be killed quite yet. It’s just too important. In the end, those messages will always be nagging in the back of your mind, “Check me!!!! Check meeee!!!”
