Soviet-era flag@whitehouse.gov is no more

During a time when copyrights are totally ignored and the internet runs nakedly free, we have to deal with a White House that believes they need to control what information reaches your brain. Whether from a conservative or liberal administration, Americans will never tolerate information control.
Flag@whitehouse.gov was used to hunt down ‘fishy’ or supposedly ‘mis’information about health care reform. No president in the history of the United States has asked the public to report political opponents and ‘flag’ information they deem incorrect.
We’re sorry to inform everyone that the White House is just as biased and just as motivated to use misinformation as their opponents are. Who are they to deem what is and is not correct information?
Indeed, we’re not the only ones to cause a ruckus about this:
From the outside, it looks like an intimidation tactic using taxpayer-funded government technology. It resembles controls that are currently being used in communist nations. The use of web 2.0 technology for this ridiculousness is totally not cool.
A healthy republic thrives during vigorous debate and policy critique. This is an attempt to silence an opposition and stab the very heart of democracy.
We were happy to see the Whitehouse has finally pulled the plug on this rancid abuse of tech.
