Feeling fat? Purge unwanted Windows Startup items!
ByAlso, don’t bother sticking your finger down your throat. It’s really not as cool as they say it is. While we’re at it, we should warn you not to stick your finger anywhere in your PC. Also not cool.
This leads us into Day 3 in our Four days to a faster computer series.
Possibly the easiest way to see a significant increase in your PC’s speed is to remove unnecessary startup items. This can be done through Windows System Configuration, or more simply with Startup Inspector.

Startup Inspector
Startup Inspector is a Windows based tool that scans and removes harmful programs hidden in your computer’s startup configuration. You can also choose to remove any programs you don’t want to start when your PC turns on. This is going to speed up your computer’s startup time and reduce the amount of programs that suck memory behind the scenes.
As a bonus, Startup Inspector’s scan may remove viruses before any damage can be made. Many viruses are stored and hidden within Windows startup configuration and can be missed by other antivirus programs. This could help remove viruses where other programs have failed.
Now if only we can invent a way to puke viruses in real life…
