batteryWhether it’s a laptop, iPhone, or your mom’s meatloaf, these tips will help increase the life of your batteries.

1. Dim your display – Your laptop or mobile device should come with an option to lower the brightness and dim the screen. This is an easy and effective way to dramatically increase the life of any battery.

2. Unplug – When your device is not in use, unplug it. Keeping your device plugged in for long periods of time can cause deterioration to a battery’s capacity. Prolonged deterioration will destroy your battery life in no time.

3. Drain. Recharge Completely. Repeat. – You can keep your battery lasting longer by draining it to its lowest point and then plugging it in to recharge completely. This will help prevent capacity deterioration and allow you to keep your battery lasting longer.

4.Remove unwanted programs – Remove all the programs you no longer need or use. We have a neat little way to do just that. This will help prevent junk software from running in the background and tying up your device’s processing power. The less your device has to do, the longer your battery will last.

5. Enable Power Saver Mode – Most modern devices come with an option to maximize power. This should automatically dim your display or set it to dim after a certain amount of inactivity. For Laptop users, Snow Leopard and Window 7 come with power saver plans. These can be easily selected through Mac system preferences or Windows control panel. Enabling power saver mode on your device should be the easiest way to maximize your battery life.
