Don’t Panic. Back Your Life Up Online.
By
We’ve all experienced the heartbreak of a crashing hard drive and the ensuing loss of awkward high school photos that were never backed up. The good news is that moment of shear panic can be avoided completely. Backing up your data online is one of the best ways to never lose your awkwardness again. We’ve compiled a list of four beautifully FREE online backup tools just for your health:
1. Shutterfly – Shutterfly offers free unlimited storage for your digital pictures. Once uploaded, your pictures are permanently stored in their full resolution. Most importantly, Shutterfly allows you to store them securely without making them public. It’s a great alternative to an external hard drive or burning them onto a DVD.
2. Google Docs – Google just announced they will now allow you to store any file type on their Google Docs servers up to 2 GB. This means you can now upload photos, documents, text files, or anything else you need stored. Google Docs also allow you to edit and share documents online with your friends and co-workers.
3. ADrive – ADrive is a relatively new online storage medium that allows up to 50 GB of storage for free. This is an incredibly large storage capacity for no cost. ADrive also gives you the ability to share and edit files online, but without the ease of use Google Docs gives.

4. Windows Live SkyDrive – In order to compete with Google, Microsoft recently launched SkyDrive, which gives you 25 GB of free online storage. Because SkyDrive integrates with Windows Live, you gain the ability to share your files, but with a more user friendly interface. Microsoft included a drag and drop system that makes backing up your data as easy as using Windows. So now you have absolutely no excuse to not back yourself up.
