5 Years of a Fiery Fox

five years of firefox

Over one million download’s later, Mozilla’s Firefox has become one of the most popular web browsers to date. After five years of development, people across the globe have caught on to the idea of a free, stable, secure web browsing experience.

Before the days of Firefox, Microsoft’s Internet Explorer dominated the browser landscape. With only one major web browser, the internet became a very unsecure place. A lack of competition lead to minimal security improvements for Internet Explorer. Viruses and security breaches were beginning to run rampant.

In 2004, a beautiful team of open source developers decided to change all that by giving birth to Firefox: A faster, more secure web browser that cost absolutely nothing. It truly became a symbol of freedom being made by the people, for the people.

Firefox breathed life into the web. Hundreds of features created specifically for Firefox have now become standards for modern browsers. Today, Firefox is enabling creative web products and improving innovation everywhere. One can only speculate what Firefox has done for the internet and what it will continue to do.

The next five years should be a doozy! Happy birthday Firefox.

Happy birthday to Firefox. I’ve been using it since it came out and I’ve not looked back. Nothing touches it.

I could not agree more. With extensions, Firefox allows you to do pretty much anything. It’s amazing.
